FROM THE SOUTH:
Leave the A1(M) at the A68 junction (Junction 58), near Darlington. Turn left on the A68 and follow it until....
Three miles (approx) North of West Auckland follow brown tourist sign for Hamsterley Forest off the A68.
In Hamsterley village turn right following brown tourist sign for Hamsterley Forest.
At the bottom of the hill turn left following the brown tourist sign for Hamsterley Forest.
Please do not pay the toll to enter the forest. If someone is collecting the toll, please advise them that you are visiting John and Julie in the Forest Holdings.
Follow the road through the Forest. After about 1 mile you will pass a bungalow (now hidden behind a high wooden fence) on your left. Go over a little bridge and take the next turning on the right (ignore "no unauthorised vehicles" sign).
Pass three bungalows and the farm and we are the next bungalow - painted white.
Guest parking is immediately after the detached garage which has our sign on it.
On arrival, walk up the gravel garden path and ring the bell between the two doors.

From the A1 travelling South (Please do not follow the

FROM THE WEST:
From the A66 turn left onto the A67 (signposted Barnard Castle). At the end of the road (traffic lights) turn right and then left over the bridge and pass through Barnard Castle.
As you leave Barnard Castle, turn left onto the B6278 towards Egglestone (you will pass a large Glaxo/Smith/Klein factory on your right).
After leaving Barnard Castle, take the second turning on the right (signposted Kininvie). Go straight over the crossroads at Kininvie (please take care) and at the end of the road turn right.
Take the first turn to the left (signposted Hamsterley) and at the end of the road turn left.
Take the second turn on the left, after the Descend Course which is only a track. (If you enter the Forest at the first turn you may be stopped by locked barriers in late evenings and early mornings.) At the bottom of the hill turn left.
