Between November and March it would be very helpful if you could let us know if you require an evening meal in advance as we keep limited stocks during the winter.

We wish to offer you the widest possible choice of meals but we do not have the facilities of a commercial restaurant and so we are unable to cope with every possible combination. Therefore, please could you choose 2 (or 4) meals from any one section of the menu?


SECTION A - served with freshly-cooked potatoes and seasonal vegetables (from our own garden when possible).


Steak Pie - slow-cooked topside of beef in a rich gravy, with mushrooms (optional) and a golden puff-pastry top sprinkled with sesame seeds.


Chicken Casserole - Succulent pieces of free-range chicken, with mushrooms (optional) slowly casseroled in their own juices and lightly seasoned with mixed herbs.


Minced Steak + Herby Dumplings - Finest local minced steak, cooked with onions and served with fluffy, herby dumplings.


Lamb's Liver - Fried British lamb's liver served in a rich onion gravy.


Sausage Casserole - Prime, outdoor-reared pork sausages (91% pork) fried with golden brown onions and served in a rich gravy.


Fish Goulash - a mixture of sustainable fish fillets (white fish/salmon/smoked haddock - the mixture may vary) with canellini beans, in a sauce based upon garlic, smoked paprika and home-grown tomatoes.


Vegetable and Bean Ragout - a combination of aubergine, courgette, peppers and mushrooms cooked in a basil/garlic tomato sauce with haricot beans. (V)


Mushroom and Lacey's Blue Cheese Pie - Superb local blue cheese, mushrooms and beer provide the main flavours, with chickpeas. Served with a puff-pastry top sprinkled with sesame seeds. (V)


SECTION B - Served with Fusilli (pasta spirals) and suitable accompaniments.


Pasta Bolognese - Finest local minced steak, cooked gently with mushrooms and peppers, in a thick rich tomato sauce infused with herbs.


Vegetarian Bolognese - As above, but lentils and finely chopped vegetables replace the minced steak. (V)


Tuna Balls - Dolphin friendly, line-caught tuna in a tomato-based sauce with a hint of chilli.


Pork Balls - Minced, lean pork seasoned with cumin and coriander served in a tomato-based sauce with a hint of chilli.

SECTION C - Served with Basmati rice and suitable accompaniments.


Chilli con Carne - Finest local, minced steak and red kidney beans cooked in a fairly mild traditional chilli sauce.


Vegetarian Chilli - a chunky vegetable stew flavoured with chilli and chocolate for an authentic Aztec taste. (V)


Black-eyed Bean and Mushroom - You will not miss meat with this superb lightly-spiced Indian dish. (V)


Egg Marsala - a lightly spiced, creamy curry sauce served with freshly boiled, free-range eggs and vegetables. (V)


Beef Curry - Tender strips of beef cooked in John's own blend of spices with mushrooms, peppers tomatoes and creamed coconut to produce a fairly mild curry.
